For as long as I can remember I’ve wanted to work with animals, specifically cats. I was brought up in a household with cats and have always felt a special affinity with them and am lucky to have four in my life at the moment. As a teenager I worked in a veterinary practice and spent a summer at Knowsley Safari Park while in sixth form as my childhood dream was to be a vet. I loved the work, but found the sadder aspects more difficult so decided to do my degree in Biochemistry and Neurobiology instead, for which I gained a 2:1. Around 2014 I became quite sick and had to stop working altogether to concentrate on my own health and wellbeing which gave me a chance to really think about what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.
I eased back into work as a cat sitter for The Cat Sit Company (a lot more demanding than I expected!) and dared to dream that I may be able to work with cats as a career after all.... I found that by looking after a range of different breeds, types and ages of cats and engaging with their owners, I became really interested in cat wellness and grooming which is what led me to researching cat grooming as a potential career. It seemed so right for me to study and I’m so excited to finally be doing my dream job. Alongside grooming I now also am DEFRA trained as a cat microchip implanter, feline behaviourist and animal holistic therapist. The wellbeing and health of cats will always be a priority and a passion for me and now I am so happy to have made this my life.
Who knew that ill health could lead to such a complete change happening in my life and that this would turn out in such a positive way, where I get to do what truly makes me happy!

Cats are such fascinating creatures and I always knew I wanted to learn more about them. The way they think, why they act as they do and what we humans can do to improve their lives is all so important to me. I am following this passion by studying an Advanced Diploma in Feline Behaviour with Compass Education. As I am over halfway through now I am able to start practising. I do some work with my local cat rescue centre (Garston Animal Rescue) and my other feline clients so do message me to book a consultation. I love learning about new ways to enrich our cats lives and feline nutrition is quickly becoming a passion of mine also.

Fermi an ex feral cat I have been working with
I completed my DEFRA certified microchipping course in December 2021 in preparation for the new law for cats. All cats over 20 weeks old must be microchipped by law and it's something I am really passionate about. Finding out and being reunited with your cat if something were to happen, they get lost, stolen or trapped would give so much eace of mind.
If you check out my blog section there are a few cat stories there where microchipping could have helped lost and missing cats so much faster. It's especially important for indoor cats as if they get out they have less of an idea of their local environment. Elderly cats too can become easily disorientated so again do get your cats chipped asap.

Since beginning to work with cats I have become more and more interested in holistic therapies as applies to our feline friends. It's become a passion of mine outside of grooming although I do mix the two.
Animal Reiki/Let Animals Lead® and Animal Healing : I am an Animal Reiki Teacher and have a Diploma in Animal Healing (Healing Animals Organisation, 2022) who works with cats and their humans. Whether the cats are unwell, transitioning or you want to develop your connection with your cat/s this is a great modality to try. The Let Animals Lead® school of thought is that the cats are in the charge of the session and no physical contact is made unless the cat specifically comes over to initiate it. It is based on Japanese meditation techniques and is great for wellbeing and stress. Like Zoopharmacognosy, it is up to the cat to select how much or little they they take and nothing is pushed upon them. All forms of animal healing I use follow these guidelines and I also work with other species as needed.
Zoopharmacognosy/Self Selection : I am qualified in Advanced Animal PsychAromatica 1&2 courses with Nayana at Essential Animals which I began in November 2020 as well as Sensory Enrichment with Healing Animal Organisation (2023). It is a holistic animal wellness therapy that covers botanicals (essential oils, dried herbs and hydrosols mainly), TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), natural animal care, nutrition, the impact of stress and Zoopharmacognosy (self selection). What I love about it especially is that the cats are given the choice whether to interact with the botanicals recommended for them. Nothing is forced upon them so they get back some control over their health and wellbeing. It's a fantastic system that I love watching unfold and can be used alongside/as an adjunct to veterinary medicine.
